The hardest part about pursuing something that isn’t a “traditional” job is that often, the people closest to you are the ones squashing your dreams, even if they don’t quite realize they’re doing it.
Writing Motivation & Inspiration
Writing Motivation is different from general motivation.
As a Multi-Talented Writer, you often have enough projects on the go to never be bored. But whether there’s a lot or a little to do, sometimes procrastination shows its face.
Even multi-talented writers have times when we don’t feel like writing anymore. And although most of us know that motivation is important to get over these obstacles, sometimes it’s a little difficult to understand that writing motivation is a bit different than other types.
Writing motivation takes more than just telling yourself “you can do it.” Writers are often extremely self-critical, which in general is a great thing—except when you become so self-critical that you give up on your dreams because you start believing that you’re not good enough.
Whether it’s because we have no support system or because we’ve been in a freelance famine cycle for a little too long, we sometimes lose trust in our abilities as writers, and motivation goes down right along with our confidence.
Motivation plays a large part in how much we get done as writers and as people in general, and it’s important to learn how to motivate yourself to keep writing, keep submitting, and keep following your dream, no matter the obstacles you face.
Learn to motivate yourself and you’ll grow in confidence (and results). See posts in this category to learn how to motivate yourself to be the best writer you can be.
